Tamela Mann began her illustrious career with her husband David Mann of 37 years, as integral members of Kirk Franklin & The Family, where their powerful voices and dynamic performances helped shape the sound of 90s Gospel music. Their contributions to the group were instrumental in bringing gospel music to mainstream audiences, blending traditional sounds with contemporary influences. This early success laid the foundation for their evolution into iconic roles within the Tyler Perry franchise, most notably as Mr. Brown and Cora. These beloved characters not only introduced their comedic talents but also solidified their status as versatile performers, capable of captivating audiences in both music and on the screen. David and Tamela Mann have been instrumental to the Tyler Perry franchise, significantly contributing to stage plays, movies, and hit shows like Meet The Browns and currently Assisted Living.

Despite her many successful ventures, serving God through her music remains the foundation. “My goal is to do the work of Him who sent me, which is Jesus,” she says with a warm smile. “Even though I’m a parent, a wife, a mother, an aunt and grandmother, all those things, I know I was put here for a purpose. My call has to do with music. The music ministry has always been one of my priorities. My hope is that people will hear the songs and realize we have to do the will of Him who sent us, who made us, who created us.”
